In conjunction with the 2001 USCAA National Corporate Cup Relays in Renton, WA, the USCAA will offer a special training session open to all competitors and corporate teams on Friday, July 20th.

The training session will focus on collaboration and diversity. We believe that broad participation by employees from several companies provides a unique and valuable opportunity to learn about diversity. We will apply the lessons of athletics and teamwork gained from a more varied group of people than is possible through in-house training amongst employees of a single corporation.

Track & field is a competitive practice. Yet within this competitive environment, collaboration helps us all live better and achieve more. A team's success depends on the diversity of its members and the extent to which they work together, drawing on the special value each team member contributes. USCAA championship participants will get acquainted with people with different business backgrounds and experiences, using the track and field analogy as a superb illustration of the mutual reinforcement of diversity and team spirit.

The training session will last all day on Friday, July 20th, although attendance is possible for either the morning or afternoon session only.

As the representative of your company at the USCAA Track & Field championships, we ask for your help in three areas. First, we would like the training session to feature contributions from a variety of companies. If your company can volunteer a keynote speaker or a training resource, please let us know.

Second, we hope that the training session will represent a broad cross-section of teams participating in the USCAA meet. We want to help you bring as many participants from your company as you can to the training session, and believe the training session can be a valuable component of your company's diversity training strategy. To that end, we request that your company make diversity training resources available to those USCAA track & field championship participants who wish to attend the session.

Third, please solicit advance registration to the diversity seminars for your team members. We have attached an information and registration form for this purpose.

For each attendee, we will charge a nominal tax-deductible fee of $10 for either half-day session or $15 for the full day. We will provide a receipt suitable for corporate reimbursement. Proceeds from the session will benefit charity through the USCAA. For a day of regular diversity training for one employee, your corporation may pay about $200. This training session represents a unique diversity training opportunity at a very reasonable price, and could provide added company funding support for competing athletes to attend the USCAA National Corporate Cup Relays.

Accompanying this letter, you will find an advance registration form for use by your team members. This form will appear on the USCAA website. We will also welcome registration on the day of the seminars.
