With ONE DAY to go, we have only 10 volunteer assignments
left unfilled. Once again the USCAA membership has proven its ability to step up
to the bar when needed. The statistics to date are as follows:
* 131 slots filled (4 on Friday, 55 on Saturday, 72 on Sunday)
* 10 slots still open (0 on Friday, 1 on Saturday, 9 on Sunday)
* 19 teams reporting (with at least one volunteer assigned)
* 5 teams not yet reporting (based on last year's list of teams)
Attached is Revision 7 of the Volunteer Plan (vol00.xls). Note that the
only remaining categories are Assisting the Announcers (any amount of time would
be appreciated), Awards Presentation (only a few minutes at a time throughout
the day), Clerk's Table, Assistant Timers, and the Post Event Party. We
also still need one of the 10K finish line volunteers to pass on instructions
from Catherine Ward so the others can report at 7:00 am instead of 6:15 am.
Note that due to the absence of a ceremonial parade of teams this year, we have
changed the duties of the Opening Ceremonies volunteers to putting up team
banners and selling meet programs in the stands. Therefore please turn in your
team banners by Saturday 9am and encourage your team members to buy programs.
Also attached is a file with the same information sorted by team (volteam00.xls). Congratulations to AT&T, CIGNA, GE, Lock-Mart,
Lucent, and Qwest, who are each covering double-digit numbers of volunteer
slots. I am confident that all slots will be filled since a number of
teams (Boeing, Pac*Tel, SCVAL, and TI) have indicated that volunteers will be
available but the specific assignments have not been confirmed. Team
Volunteer Coordinators should stop by the registration table to confirm (or add)
final assignments and pick up T-shirts for their volunteers, either on Friday
2pm-6pm or Saturday 8am-9am.
